The city is famous for the toboggan-run which also could be used in summer. Ilmenau is situated in the Thuringia forrest which is a really big recreational area .Bus and central station also need only a five minute walk to be reached.The city is famous for the university with one of the highest technical standards and also for Goethe, a well known german poet.
